Title: District Events
Description: District events for Beavers

What events/activities do your Districts run for Beavers?

I'm looking for some decent suggestions for events that can be run for the Beaver section at a District level. I've got a District meeting at the end of the month and we don't seem to do that much so I want to lob some new ideas in.

Does anyone run a District competition for Beavers? I've seen Connect 4 mentioned in a couple of places, does anyone do this?

Ours runs a District Fun Day once a year for the Beavers. The current BSL is actually very good, I have to say.

Fun day is justs a day of activities and stuff like that!

Our district runs a beaver fun day each year as well. They also get to Gilwell park each year, so do the cubs for a matter of fact.

How do your Beavers get on at the fun days at Gilwell? I've been down to one of them but haven't taken any Beavers as yet. Do they get bored with all the queing or are they ok?

I've never been there with the Beavers, but from what I hear talking to the Beaver leader, they all seem to enjoy themselves

Hi, We hold an annual beaver sleepover and also have an annual DC challenge competition for our distric shield. The competion is judged in Nov/Dec depending if we have a district Halloween party of Christmas Party. The Beavers all enjoy taking part in the hope of our group being added to the growing list of groups who have won.

What does your competition consist of?

I fancy getting something going for the Beavers in our District but have only seen Connect 4 run as a Beaver competion.

Hi Folks,
We have quite a busy calendar for our Beavers in the West Wight District of the Isle of Wight County.

February or March we hold a Craft, activity or march hatters party,
April we hold a St. George's day Funday and join with the Cubs and Scout at the end for a service of renewal of Promises.
May we hold a District Beaver Scout outing.
June we have our Beaverabout Funday.
July the Beavers join the Cubs for the Saturday at the County Cub Scout Camp.
September we have another Outing.
October we have a District Sleepover.
November we have a joint orienteering competition with the Cubs.
December we end the year by going to a Panto.

I have just taken on a new role as District Beaver Scout Leader as well as runningmy own Colony. I feel district events are an important part of the Annual calendar as not only do the Beavers meet other island Beavers but also the Leaders can swop ideas.

We've just got a new ADC(Beavers) appointed so hopefully we should get some events sorted out in the near future. Last one we had was almost a year ago.
