Title: Woggles, Neckers, & Uniform

Keith - May 16, 2007 01:32 PM (GMT)
I looked in my draw the other day, where I keep my scout uniform and along with my old necker, woggles and uniforms. Heres what i found:
1 plastic maroon beaver woggle
1 plastic blue cub woggle
1 leather scout woggle (the old style that had the leather weaved together with a popper on)
1 orange necker with blue trim
1 cub uniform (with loads of badges on the arm)

Can't find my beaver or scout uniform though - don't remember getting rid of the scout one.

We still use plastic woggles for beavers and cubs, and leather woggles for scouts, explorers and leaders.

What woggle do you wear? what does it look like?
Whats your necker like?
Do you still have any of your old uniforms?

I wear the standard scout leather woggle.
My necker is sky blue and blue split down the middle.

I have several scarves, and several woggles!

World Jamboree UK Contingent one (also have my Eurojam one) which has a leather plaited woggle.
Group one-purple with a white border and a leopard head on the back. This one currently had a leather Jamboree woggle on.
Explorer one-Purple with and orange border-still need a woggle for this one, untill then it's in a friendship knot!

I also have various other scarves dotted around from eurojam etc, and I have some yellow plastic woggles sitting around somewhere aswel !

My beaver/cub uniforms are no longer around, but all the badges I had are on my camp blanket. My scout shirt is badgeless and rather tatty in my wardrobe!

:D

I to have severall scarfs and several woggles.
I have my standard group neckie, would put up the picture but can't work out how to do it. Also have a number of neckies that were specially made for certain camps, as well as one from Holland. At the moment also have my JIC neckie.
As for woggles, I have a lovely pink one that I had to make on leadership training as well as two leather ones, 1 from Fordell Firs and the other from Lochgoilhead, which are two Scout Centres in Scotland.

Threw away my old Venture uniform as well as my Scout shirt. :(

At present I have three neckers,

1) my group one (for my ASL position)
2) my group one (for my acting SL position) (different group)
3) my district one (for my DSL position)

As a Wood Badge holder I wear the Gillwell woggle. My Troop wear white hand made woggles. We have a leader who makes all our woggles. Are we unique in this?

As far as scarves go I have several. As an honary member of the 1st Posgrunn Scout Troop in Norway I wear the Norwegian scarf when I am there. I also have the Scout scarf for Western Australia (brought back by my Mother and Father), Gilwell, Eurojam, Discovery 87 (can anyone rember that?), 1st Rushden Scouts (supplied by their GSL after a visit to the area), my sons Beaver Scarf, my daughters Guide scarf and several more which I have swapped over the years.

I have only been a Scout Leader. I made the mistake of volunteering to "help" at Scout evenings, as I had been a climber and canoeist most of my life, and thought that I could help them. Six months later I was the Scout Leader, as such I have only ever worn a leaders uniform. I do have a leader in the Troop who still has his pre 1960 uniform, that he wore to Windsor Castle to get his Queens Scout award. This comes out on "special" occasions for the Troop to see.

Does this make me a Scouting Geek??

Don't think it makes you a scouting geek!

Where have I heard that before?

That happens alot!

I started helping with beavers for dofe when I was 15 and enjoyed it so much, I carried on until the colony I was with (the one I was in as a beaver) whent downhill so I moved to my current group, then took out a warrant at age 18 and I have been there ever since.

Its a similar story for me Keith. I started helping out at cubs for my silver dofe then gold dofe and I enjoyed it so much that after I finished helping out for my gold dofe, I became a young leader (which had conveniently just been intorduced). I then took a warrent out when I was 18 and Im still here to this present day.
