Theres many different methods for rewarding good behaviour and punnishing bad behaviour at the same time. What systems do you use, and how do you feel it works?
With my beavers we have numerous reward schemes
points for inspections that get totalled up every term and we give the beaver with the highest points the best beaver award.
Lodge points (marbles) for each lodge. Each lodge has its own pot. We award marbles for the best lodge at inspection, good behaviour, doing well in a game, etc. and we also take away marbles for bad behaviour if we feel we need to do so. At the end of the term we award a prize to the best lodge with the most marbles.
Beaver of the week - something we introduced quite recently where a beaver who has been perticually good gets to take home a little trophy for the week and gets a certificate. If behaviour has been bad we don't award it.
One of the things we do at cubs is run a points competition in their sixes. So the six with the most points at the end of the term get the points trophy with their colour ribbon on it. We also give a prize to each of them in their six.
We give points for inspections, winning games working well in their sixes, helping out when not asked too. We also take points off if they have been bad. We find this works fairly well.
We also got them to come up with a code of conduct.
Whats your code of conduct?
I have written about our Code of honour in a couple threads, so will not write again. Look under post called "Behaviour" in this forum.
