Anyone know any problem solving / challanges suitable for Cubs?
We did one recently to get a marble to take as long as possible to get from one end of a table to the other.

Heres 2
Faces - Get them to all sit down and look at you then draw a face in the air with your left hand and get them to copy it, if they do it with there right hand they have done it wrong and you keep trying till they all get it.
Numbers - Get some sticks or stones place them in any order on a table and put your fingers out behind them and ask what number it is.
Sorry I cant really explain things that well,

Split the pack into teams. Give each team pieces of paper (1 less than the number of kids in each team) . Their challenge is to get all the members on their team, to one end of the hall and back again, and they must all be standing on the pieces of paper.
You can always bring a theme into it, such as the floor is the sea, and the pieces of paper are boats/rafts. If they come off the pieces of paper then that person is in the sea and out of the challenge. Winners are the team with the most people left at the end.

We do that one at cubs as well, but we use chairs. more dangerous, but more exciting for them. As we have 4 sixes we start each six off from 1 corner of the room to the other.

Yes we have done it with chairs aswell. Had to stop them a number of times from crashing into the wall as the line didn't go straight

I just took our cubs camping at the weekend. 43 cubs in all!
I took them to Broadstone Warren Scout and Activity Centre. We did archery, rifle shooting, pot holing and abseilnig. The cubs perticulary enjoyed the pot holing. I would recommend taking your cubs to do this some time, as they love crawling around in small tunnels.
I also found my cubs enjoyed making bivouacks.

We recently had a District camp with all of the sections involved. The Cub programme included caving, which at Fordell Firs is a man-made structure. They enjoyed crawling around in there for an hour, especially when they were given the task to find the 10 sticks of dynamite (rolled up newspaper covered in electrical tape). Although they seemed to enjoy hiding them again much more!
